Ronovo Surgical Establishes Global Manufacturing and Clinical Training Base, Accelerating the Commercialization of Carina™ Platform for Robotic Surgery

YANGZHOU, CHINA -- Ronovo Surgical recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its new global production facility, clinical research center, and clinical training base in the Yangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone (YETDZ) in Jiangsu Province. This represents a significant milestone for Ronovo as the company evolves from R&D stage towards commercialization. At the ceremony, Ronovo’s management team and investors were joined by key leadership figures of the YETDZ and China Medical Equipment Association.

During the ceremony, Dr. John Ma, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Ronovo, emphasized the company's mission: “Over the past 20 years, Chinese hospitals’ investment in surgical robots and patients' out-of-pocket expenditures for robotic surgery have together exceeded $10 billion. Yet, the number of Chinese patients benefiting from robotic surgery is less than 1% of the volume of minimally invasive surgeries each year. For this reason, Ronovo was founded with the intention of developing proprietary robotic surgery technology that addresses unmet surgical needs in China while remaining affordable for patients. Through extensive collaboration with clinicians, we have overcome more than 2,000 patent barriers to create the first modular, precise, and intelligent surgical robot in the Chinese market.”

This cooperation between Ronovo and YETDZ will foster innovation in high-end, intelligent medical equipment and set a new benchmark for domestic and global advancement in surgical technology. The new 130,000-square-foot site represents a $42M investment by Ronovo into a state-of-the-art facility that will integrate manufacturing, marketing, and clinical training under one roof. It will be equipped with clean rooms, product display areas, and dedicated clinical training spaces. This facility is set to accelerate Ronovo’s commercialization efforts and promote the broad clinical adoption of modular surgical robots.

The YETDZ was strategically chosen for its leadership in robotic technology development and manufacturing within China. The region also boasts a turnkey industrial ecosystem that integrates production, sales, and logistics. As a result, the region has been attracting top talent and making remarkable achievements in new health technology and high-end equipment manufacturing. This positions YETDZ as a crucial support base for Ronovo’s future growth.
