Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for on-site product installation, commissioning, and documentation.

Provide post-sales services to customers and establish strong client relationships.

Execute and document product maintenance, repairs, and servicing activities.

Develop technical documents (e.g., equipment usage/repair manuals) and maintenance records, ensuring timely updates and revisions.

Analyze and resolve product failures at client sites (including remote support), and compile failure reports with trend analysis.

Collect, track, and address customer complaints, feedback, and repair requests.

Coordinate clinical trial surgical support activities, including pre-operative equipment checks, intraoperative issue logging, and post-operative equipment maintenance.


Requirements:

Develop robotic assemblies for the next generation surgical robotic platforms, with careful consideration for key functions and safety.
Collaborate with other team members (manufacturing, electrical, software, mechanical, imaging, system, clinical, quality) to solve complex, system level design challenges.
Rapidly create and iterate functional prototypes in a fast-paced startup environment, including platform hardware architect, mechatronic and robotic system design, kinematic analysis, FEA simulation, component selection, electromechanical integration.
Generate and own models for assemblies, components, and drawings, in a government regulated environment.
Conduct design failure-modes analysis and associated verification testing.
Collaborate with vendors, suppliers, quality and manufacturing through the product life cycle.
Mentoring and coaching other engineers in problem solving and technical expertise.

Qualifications:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with over 6 or more years of experience in developing system hardware or capital equipment is required.
Experience developing robotic arms is preferred.
Experience in structural designs, complex mechanisms and mechatronic applications is required.
Experience with precision components (gears, belts, lead screws), encoders and servomotor selection is required.
Experience in CAD, such as SolidWorks (preferred), and/or ProE.
Strong understanding of fabrication methods including machining, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, sand casting and molding.
Hands-on engineering with the proven ability to work well in a team environment.
Analysis skills, including statics, dynamics, strength of materials and stress analysis.
Must be capable of working independently and in a team while being flexible, self-motivated, curious and willing to revolutionize the world of medical robotics.
An approachable individual who provides a high level of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration.
Previous experience in developing Medical Devices in an FDA regulated environment is preferred.

Overview:
The Robotics and Control Engineer will directly contribute to the development of Ronovo’s advanced robotic surgical system. The primary focus of this position will be the development, integration, and verification of robotic control systems based on clinical, user, and safety requirements. As a Robotics and Control Engineer, your will be driving motion control algorithms development from theoretical conception to prototyping in simulation, implementation in production software, and eventual integration and verification on hardware systems. You will also support the team in making technical decisions with analysis and experimental data.


Core Job Responsibilities:
Perform modeling and controls algorithm development for custom robots, end-effectors, and other electro-mechanical subsystems
Implement robot and servo control algorithms across subsystems
Work with clinicians and engineers to verify engineering requirements
Work in cross functional teams to support system integration and engineering verification
Other related duties as may be assigned


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience:
Required: Master or PhD degree in control, mechatronics, robotics, or equivalent areas
Three years or more hands on experience with electromechanical system control
Demonstrated strong experience with servo and robot control algorithm development, implementation, and debugging
Demonstrated experience in electromechanical system design, integration, debugging, verification, and testing
Familiarity with electrical and mechanical principles of sensors and actuators is preferred
Familiarity with control theory and signal processing is preferred
Experience with real-time control systems software development (RTLinux, QNX, xPCTarget, etc) is preferred
